Women’s club helps worthy causes

The Westlake Women’s Club recently distributed $8,000 to two worthy causes.

The club presented a $5,000 check to Sgt. Frank Underlin, a 27-year veteran with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. Underlin served on the Department’s search and rescue team for 10 years and is currently a patrol supervisor in Thousand Oaks.

The organization also donated $3,000 to Tricha Nelson, program director of the nonprofit Court Appointed Special Advocate System. The program recruits, trains and supervises volunteers who speak on behalf of children in the courts.

The Women’s Club raised the funds at last year’s Holiday Fantasy event.
