Business tax certificates need to be renewed Business taxes become delinquent and subject to penalty if not received by the city of Thousand Oaks on or before Tues., Feb. 28. The law requires that a business license or tax certificate be obtained before any business is conducted within the city of Thousand Oaks. All business tax certificates expire on Dec. 31 of each year. It’s the taxpayer’s responsibility to submit payment for renewal in advance of Jan. 1 each year. Taxes become delinquent and subject to penalty of $10 or 10 percent of the tax, whichever is greater, on the first day of each month after the delinquency, to a maximum of no more than 100 percent of the tax––if not received or postmarked by Feb. 28. Business tax renewal payments are accepted at the finance department customer service counter weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Renewals may also be sent by mail to: City of Thousand Oaks, Attention: Finance Department—Business License, 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks, CA 91360.
