Only one council member stood up for her convictions

I attended the City Council meeting Nov. 28 just so I could speak about the importance of preserving the Mount Clef Ridge wildlife corridor.

The General Plan lists this property as “undevelopable.” Its critical habitat linkage is already severely compromised.

Too bad animals have no voice and don’t vote.

Candidates brag that they are “open space” and “slow growth” advocates. Once these frauds get elected, they ignore the people who elect them. This was quite apparent on Nov. 28.

Only Claudia Bill de la Peña had the fortitude and honesty not to vote for its passage. She’s the only member of the City Council who doesn’t rake in donations from developers.

There’s a clear message here that tells us that “we the people” and animals do not count—deep pockets do. Gloria Holtz Westlake Village
