Group to learn genealogy research methods Jewish Genealogical Society of the Conejo Valley and Ventura County and surrounding areas will host a general meeting from 2 to 4 p.m. Sun., Dec. 10 at Temple Adat Elohim, 2420 E. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks. The topic will be "Bugsy Siegel and Meyer Lansky: The Men Behind the Flamingo Hotel." Ron Arons, a founding member of the society and a nationally known speaker, will provide a discussion about the lives of Siegel and Lansky using both standard and nontraditional genealogical records, focusing on how and where to get these types of records: vital records, census, newspaper stories, FBI records and more. Board of director elections will be held during the meeting. Those who renew their membership or join for 2007 will be eligible for a drawing of genealogical prizes. Members must be present at the meeting to win. Light refreshments celebrating Hanukkah and the membership drive will be available. The Jewish Genealogical Society of the Conejo Valley and Ventura County is dedicated to sharing genealogical information, techniques and research tools with anyone interested in Jewish genealogy and family history.
