Challenger congratulates those who won

The elections are now over and the votes have been counted. Congratulations to Tim Stephens, Pat Phelps and Mike Dunn for being elected to another four-year term.

We have a great school district. The employees care about the students and the families of community. I do believe that the school district does listen to the concerns of the parents and the taxpayers of this great city, and that all employees of the district, including the board of education, have family values.

Now it's time to move on and set aside any differences that may have occurred in the past.

Remember, you were all voted into office, now take our children's education to even greater heights.

Our district has challenges ahead, including aging schools, budget cuts from the state and declining enrollment, which are all at the top of the list.

Look to each other for guidance and work together for the common good of all children in our district.

I also want to thank all who have supported me during this election process and to those who cast their votes for John Short.

Congratulations to Andy Fox, Claudia Billde la Peña and Dennis Gillette, reelected to City Council, and to Joe Gibson, Susan Holt and Mike Berger for being reelected to the recreation and park district.

To all who live in this great city we all call home, may your holiday seasons be filled with joy and happiness. John Short Thousand Oaks
