Audubon Society hosts bird-watching trips The Conejo Valley Audubon Society will host the following birding field trips for December. Visitors are welcomed and events are free. Participants should bring bottled water and dress warmly. Sat., Dec. 2: Canada Larga. Meet at Las Posas Park-and-Ride at 8 a.m. View many species of sparrows and perhaps some sapsuckers, bluebirds, hawks and grassland birds. For information, call Chrystal Klabunde at (805) 522-8023. Sun., Dec. 10: LaJolla Canyon. Meet at Las Posas ParkandRide at 8 a.m. Participants have a good chance to distinguish sparrows, usually canyon and rock wren, raptors and wrentit. For information, call Dee Lyon at (805) 499-2165. Tues., Dec. 12: Beginner's Bird Walk. Call Angie at (818) 991-4055 between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. for reservation and location. Rain cancels. Sat., Dec. 16: Saticoy Ponds. Meet at Las Posas Park-and-Ride at 8 a.m. or at the gate at 8:30 a.m. Hikers may see many species of ducks, hawks, sparrows, horned larks, American pipits and possibly bald eagles.
