Kids Safe Seminar offers street-smart tips

The American Academy of Self Defense will present a Kids Safe Seminar from 1 to 3 p.m. Sat., Nov. 18 at 3345 Kimber Drive, Newbury Park. The community is invited and admission is free.

Topics to be covered include how to be safe in a fire, flood or earthquake, on the Internet and in the outside world, as well as gun safety and first aid. Healthcare workers, police, fire and safety professionals will discuss how to

keep children safe and streetsmart, including what to do in an emergency and what steps to take to get out of danger.

Some street-smart tips include memorizing address and phone numbers and never talking to strangers or accepting food or rides from them.

The seminar will offer drinks, appetizers and giveaways.
