Outlook: After being nearly left for dead following four consecutive defeats, Newbury Park has rebounded in a big way the past two weeks with victories over Calabasas and Simi Valley, games in which the Panthers outscored the opposition 94-23.

NPHS, which did little on the ground during the first month of the season, averaged 174 rushing yards in the pair of wins.

Moorpark, however, presents a much greater challenge. As always, the key to slowing down the Musketeers will be containing running back Darrell Scott, the Marmonte League's leading rusher.

Newbury Park was the only team in the league to beat Moorpark last season.

TOHS (4-3) at Simi Valley (3-4)

Outlook: Thousand Oaks needs to play more consistent football if they want to make the playoffs. The Lancers also must play better in the second half of games.

In the past three weeks, games in which Thousand Oaks has gone 1-2, TOHS has let halftime leads slip away against both Moorpark and Westlake.

The Lancers' running game was effective during last weekend's 177 loss to the Warriors, as TOHS racked up 150 yards on the ground. Surprisingly, though, it was Thousand Oaks' passing attack that struggled by only gaining 113 yards through the air.

To be postseason eligible, the Lancers may need to win out.
