Dunn a disaster for public schools
Residents of our great Conejo Valley: Please think before you vote on Nov. 7.
We have had a terrific school district here for many years. People move to Conejo Valley because of the great reputation of our schools. Our test scores are the envy of other school districts. That excellence continues as high percentages of our graduates continue to soar in higher education.
These achievements can be credited in part to the hard work and dedication of board members Tim Stephens and Pat Phelps. They deserve our continued support.
In the past two years, there have been extremists led by Mike Dunn who want to change what we have. Don't let them.
This is your school district. Don't let them disrupt this great educational system. Mike Dunn has been an embarrassment to our board and has caused unnecessary problems. These include an unfair labor practice complaint brought against Mike Dunn.
So much energy and time has been wasted on the problems he's created and his tunnelvision outlook and approach.
The educators who decided who should be recommended for the Conejo school board are actually regular teachers, counselors and classified personnel. They interviewed seven candidates and they decided to endorse Pat Phelps, Tim Stephens and John Short. Mike Dunn calls them "12 union bosses."
That is totally his fabrication. Regular employees made the decisions. The presidents of the three unions didn't even have a vote.
There has been nothing but cooperation between the district and the teachers union, which in turn has lead to the best education for our students.
Let's keep it that way.
The exemplary leadership of the noard must be maintained for our children's sake.
Regular teachers, counselors and classified employees ask you to vote for Phelps, Stephens and Short for the Conejo Valley Unified School Board. Nina Brandt Thousand Oaks
