Backs Phelps, Stephens, Buckles for school board

We all know that one of the reasons our homes' values have risen in the last several years is because of the outstanding and deserved reputation of Conejo Valley Unified School District for academic excellence.

It's one of the main selling points that local real estate agents love to brag about. Because of our schools, people are eager to buy homes in our area, ensuring that the investments we have made in our houses will continue to be good ones. If the performance of our schools declines, the values of our homes will most likely also decline.

The continued high level of achievement for our school system is not a given. It depends on having honest, hard-working school board members, who have the best interest of our kids at heart, and who are focused on a single objective, making sure our kids get the best education.

If Mike Dunn and his two companions are elected to the school board, the academic excellence of our schools is guaranteed to decline. This is based on observing Mr. Dunn's behavior over the last year, where his "contribution" to improving our schools was to argue that the year-end vacation should be lengthened.

I urge you to reelect the people who have worked so hard to achieve the high level of academic performance our school district currently enjoys. And, if that's not rewarding enough, you'll be helping to maintain the high value of your home, by supporting continued excellence in our schools and our community.

To that end, vote for Pat Phelps, Tim Stephens and Peggy Buckles for the Conejo Valley Unified school board. They'll make sure our schools continue at their high level. Randy Roth Thousand Oaks
