Brandeis women's group raises library funds

The Conejo Valley chapter of Brandeis University National Women's Committee will host a luncheon and silent auction to raise funds for the university's library and medical research.

The event is planned at 11 a.m. Wed., Oct. 11 at the Westlake Vil- lage Inn, 31943 Agoura Road.

Guest speaker will be E. Randol Schoenberg, the attorney who sought and won the return of five Gustav Klimt paintings to his client, Maria Altman.

The art had been stolen from Altman's family by the Nazis. Schoenberg arbitrated the dispute in Austria and in January the ar- bitration board decided that the paintings should be returned to Altman.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Brandeis University Women's Committee Science of Life program to find cures for many genetics-related diseases.

For luncheon reservations or information about the club, call (818) 991-2667 or (805) 376-2092.
