Oust incumbents in Thousand Oaks City Council race

2006-10-05 / Letters

I am ecstatic at the number of candidates vying for the three Thousand Oaks City Council seats in the upcoming Nov. 7 elec- tion. This gives T.O. citizens a chance to make a much-needed change in the makeup of our City Council when we cast our votes.

I've yet to determine which candidates will receive my vote, but I do know it will not be Claudia Bill-de la Peña , Dennis Gillette and Andy Fox-the three incumbents who are seeking re- election.

Over 18 months I have regu- larly e-mailed the T.O. City Coun- cil requesting they cease using taxpayer monies to fund their day laborer site next to the Hampshire Road onramp to the northbound 101 Freeway.

My requests have fallen on apathetic, deaf ears. The only ac- tion our City Council has taken is to increase amount of tax money spent to maintain this site from $59,000 to $92,900 annually.

Dennis Gillette, Andy Fox and Claudia Bill-de la Peña have failed in the job they were previ- ously elected to do by not repre- senting the interests of the T.O. citizens and by being fiscally ir- responsible with our tax monies.

They should not be rewarded with another term in office and do not deserve our vote. Dawn Williams Thousand Oaks
