Likes the Democrat in the race for Congress I am a 40-year resident of Thousand Oaks. My grandmother and mother fought to make this the best city possible. I am proud of what they have accomplished. The city of Thousand Oaks is not the city it is because of devel- opers and deep pockets. It is one of the greatest cities in the world because of hard work done by people that care about the city. I am also upset by letters in newspapers regarding the 24th Congressional District election, referring to Jill Martinez as some- one weak on the immigration is- sue. That is totally false. Unlike the current congress- man, she is going to address the issue. The current congressman has had decades to address this issue. He has done nothing. As a matter of fact I can't think of much he has done at all. Now he is up for reelection and here come the promises. The incumbent in Congress re- fuses to debate Jill Martinez. We need a leader with courage The current congressman refuses to put "Republican" on his cam- paign signs. We deserve a leader with courage. The current congressman is Karl Rove's well-trained minia- ture poodle, the Tony Blair of Conejo Valley. The people deserve to know what is going on. He is account- able to the district, not just those who have money for him. The people deserve a leader who has enough belief in what their party is doing to put their party af- filiation on their campaign signs. Michael Stein Newbury Park |
