Inaugural California Christian World Expo to open The inaugural California Christian World Expo will feature music, networking, worship, ex- hibits, Christian experts speaking on a variety of topics, special events and up-and-coming local acts in Christian music of all genres. The expo will be held Sat. and Sun., Oct. 7 and 8 at the Ventura County Fairgrounds in Ventura. Admission is free. Portions of event proceeds benefit three ministries: Day- Break Ministries, Mission With- out Borders and The Mossy Foot Project in a finale celebration on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Featured speakers include Ted Baehr, founder and Publisher of Movieguide and Chairman of the Christian Film and Television Commission, which sponsors the annual Movieguide Awards Gala. The awards honor the most inspir- ing movie and TV programs. Another keynote speaker is Dan Wooding, founder and inter- national director of ASSIST (Aid to Special Saints in Strategic Times) based in Garden Grove, Calif. Wooding is also the presi- dent of ASSIST News Service, a daily news service that sends sto- ries to 2,600 media around the world. Other event speakers include evangelist Nicole Hawkins, Wil- liam Osgood, Alan Young, Dr. John Miller, Art Hobba and Dou- glas Whitaker. The expo will also present many local musicians on both days, including Lisa Houston, Victory 33, Sisy Mohorko and Man on Fire. More than 250 businesses, ministries, nonprofits, churches and schools will host displays. There will be a Sunday morning all-city worship service.
