Other local football matchups

Thousand Oaks (2-1)

at Calabasas (0-3)

Outlook: It's likely Lancer head coach Mike Sanders has preached focus to his team during practice this week, telling them that they can't look past Calabasas.

But in all honesty, the Coyotes don't stand a chance against TOHS, winners of two consecutive games since dropping the season opener to Loyola.

Calabasas has had a difficult time stopping anyone on defense. The Coyotes are allowing an average of 32.3 points per game. Look for Lancer running backs John Lister and Taylor Malm to post good numbers on the ground.

T.O.'s defense continues to improve each week. In its first three games, the Lancers have allowed 30, 22 and 14 points.

Oaks Christian (3-0)

at Venice (2-1)

Outlook: Another week, another nationally televised game for the Lions. After hammering St. Bonaventure 59-13 last Friday, OCHS takes on Venice in a game that'll be broadcast on ESPN2.

Not only did Oaks Christian silence any doubters with its impressive performance over St. Bonaventure, but they established themselves as one of the finest football teams in the nation.

WOW!-Above from left, Oaks Christian's Sean Wiser, Corey Yriarte, Anthony Gildon and Marshall Jones rush the field. Left, Oaks' tailback Marc Tyler leaves a pair of St. Bonaventure defenders in his wake. Doing his best Peyton Manning impression, quarterback Jimmy Clausen completed 17-of27 passes for 224 yards and two scores against the Seraphs. Marc Tyler had five touchdowns, while Sean Wiser and Chris Potter were unstoppable at times. Oaks must guard against a letdown here.
