Masry's ethics called into question
Louis Masry is trying to run from the truth in that he violated campaign finance laws in the June Ventura County election.
Masry is trying to hide behind spin statements that his treasurer "checked the wrong box" when (he donated an advertisement that benefitted the campaign of Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks.)
Ventura County election finance law clearly states that the maximum any one person may contribute to a county election is $600. Masry contributed the maximum $600 to the Linda Parks for Supervisor campaign on May 25, 2006. Masry then essentially contributed more than $1,000 by (paying for an advertisement funded by) "The Masry Family for a Better Ventura County."
This committee has only one contributor--Louis Masry--and is controlled by Masry.
Campaign laws prevent these contributions (because) they are clearly attempts to skirt the $600 person limit. Legal counsel for the Ventura County Ethics Commission (will consider if Masry may have violated) campaign finance laws.
Masry is running for Thousand Oaks City Council on a promise of "integrity and trust."
Masry is trying to campaign on his father's name and reputation. I knew Ed Masry and had many conversations with him.
Ed Masry and I agreed on some things and disagreed on others, but always had mutual respect for each other. It is appalling that Louis is trying to capitalize on his father's name and work, and yet does not have the integrity or moral ethics to admit his wrongdoing.
Louis Masry may be Ed's son, but he is not Ed Masry. Joe Gibson Newbury Park
Gibson ran against Parks in the June election.
