New church opening in Newbury Park

Lifesong Christian Communities, a new church starting in Newbury Park, is inviting the community to attend its first public worship gathering at 10 a.m. Sun., Oct. 8 at the Borchard Community Center, 190 Reino Road, Newbury Park.

Lifesong was founded 10 months ago by Paul and Ginny Eddy of Newbury Park "on the idea that a church should be highly relevant and passionately mirror the love of Jesus by connecting with the needs of the surrounding community."

Rich Gregory, a final-year seminary student at Fuller and a graduate of California Lutheran University, is the church's pastor.

"Lifesong is already striving to make a difference in the community. We are preparing lunches weekly for 24 homeless people through Lutheran Social Services, we are partnering with a local school . . . and we are participating on a global level through organizations like Compassion International and the ONE campaign to end global poverty," Gregory said.

Lifesong Christian Communities will be holding worship gatherings on the second and fourth Sundays of each month at 10 a.m. at Borchard Community Center. Worship on the first and third Sundays will be held in homes.
