Chabad to present services for Sukkot To help the Jewish community celebrate the holiday of Sukkot (Festival of Booth), Chabad of the Conejo has arranged with Beit Judaica to present t he One-StopSukkah-Shop from Tues. through Fri., Oct. 3 to 5 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Friday until 4 p.m.) at 30315 Canwood St., Ste 11, Agoura Hills. The shop will include holiday needs for Sukkot, such as Esrog and Lulav sets, palm branches and Sukkah decorations. Chabad will also be traveling through the community on the intermediate days of the holiday, Oct. 9 through 12, with a Sukkah Mobile-a Sukkah built on the back of flat bed truck. The mobile will travel to various shopping centers throughout the Conejo Valley and Calabasas to offer the Jewish community the opportunity to visit a Sukkah and make the blessing of the Four Species. Sukkot follows four days after Yom Kippur. During the holiday, Jewish families eat and spend time in a Sukkah, a temporary hut, to remind them of the clouds of glory that surrounded and protected the children of Israel after leaving the exile in Egypt. In addition, Jewish people make a blessing each day of the holiday on four species: a citron, a branch of date palm, a myrtle and a willow. This represents the unity of the Jewish people. Sukkot holiday services will be at 6 p.m. Fri. Oct 6 and Sat. Oct. 7, and at 10:00 a.m. Sat. Oct. 7 and Sun. Oct. 8 at all Chabad Centers. For more information on the holiday, call Chabad at (818) 9910991. |
