If you have a soiled, torn or tattered U.S. flag, it will be properly disposed of during a American Flag Retirement Ceremony at 1 p.m., Sun., Oct. 15. Please deliver your old Stars and Stripes to Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge No. 2477, 158 Conejo School Road, Thousand Oaks, CA 91358. The Elks have been conducting this ceremony for 12 years.

Please display a new flag if your old one is showing wear and tear. Let the Elks give your old U.S. flag a dignified retirement.

The public is also invited to witness the ceremony. An ice cream social will follow.
