La Reina's Rentler going east

Caitlin Rentler Caitlin Rentler of the Santa Rosa Valley has verbally committed to attend Boston University next fall.

Rentler accepted a scholarship and will sign a National Letter of Intent in November. She was recruited to play softball for Boston University and will pursue her education in pre-professional physical therapy.

Rentler's a senior at La Reina High School, where she's currently enrolled in the school's Honors/AP college prep program. Rentler plays both catcher and third base for La Reina's varsity softball squad and the Southern California Diamonds U-18 Gold travel team.

She started her softball career in 1994 at 4 years of age and her success has always been driven by her love of the game, she said.
