T.O. to host orchid display The Conejo Orchid Society will host its annual show and sale, "Orchid Fantasy," from Fri., Sept. 8 to Sun., Sept. 10 at the Grant R. Brimhall Library, 1401 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks. Show hours are from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday. Among the species for sale will be hybrid Cattleyas; Phalaenopsis, Oncidiums and Dendrobiums from local growers and a variety of orchids from Hawaii, including the so-called waterfall Miltonias. Orchid potting bark and fertilizer will also be offered for sale. Admission to the event, which is one of the society's biggest fundraisers, is free. Demonstrations on orchid culture and potting will be presented at 11 a.m. Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday. The objectives of the society are to stimulate an interest in the collection, culture and appreciation of orchids. The group meets at 7:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at Westlake Village City Hall. There is no charge to attend, and guest speakers are featured.
