B'nai B'rith unit to honor firefighters

In recognition of local fire departments in protecting homes during last year's wildfires and to salute the work they perform every day, the Haverim B'nai B'rith unit will present a plaque in recognition of firefighters' service.

The presentation will be made during the unit's 7:30 p.m. meeting on Mon., Sept. 18 at Temple Adat Elohim in Thousand Oaks. Members of one engine company and a battalion chief will be present to accept the award.

Haverim B'nai B'rith is active in the community. Members conduct a program to feed the homeless on a weekly basis. Recently the unit presented three local students with $500 college scholarships.

The unit is actively working to establish a senior affordable housing project in the T.O. area.
