The season title was Will ams' first Irwindale Speedway championship. "The best part about winning is the cheers from all the ans," Williams said. He thanked his sponsors, Rare Parts, Spectre Performance, West Coast Converters, CRC Transmissions, Day Mo or Sports and Crew Chief Vern Williams--his father--for their upport and then celebrated with some championship doughnuts. Williams, driver of the JW Racing No. 28 truck, is also leading the points chase for the West Coast Pro Truck series that is continuing its season touring the short tracks of the Southwest. Although he has not won a race this year, JW Racing is the only team that has placed in the top five at every race. His crew, Larry Haw and Camren Beattie, are very proud of the consistency in the race truck. "Finishing consistent and strong is the key to leading the points," Williams said. Williams joined what was the American Race Truck Series in 2000 and earned the Rookie of the Year award along with the Most Improved Driver award. It was his first year racing on the oval track and he proved himself. His previous racing experience came from the drag strip where he earned two track championships near his hometown in west Texas.
