UCLA Live to host a series of classical music events

UCLA Live announces its classical, chamber and vocal performances for the 2006-07 season with concerts that include the new national orchestra of the "new Russia," the reemergence of a legendary pianist 40 years after a neurological condition crippled his right hand, and a renowned early music ensemble's interpretation of Americana. The season gets underway in November.

Among the season's highlights: the U.S. tour debut and Los Angeles premiere of the National Philharmonic of Russia, founded in 2003 by conductor and violinist Vladimir Spivakov; a duet recital featuring friends and classical music legends violinist Jaime Laredo and Leon Fleischer, a pianist who only recently returned to playing with both hands; the early-music vocal ensemble Anonymous 4 performing American folk and reli

gious music from its new CD, "Gloryland"; and recitals by violinist Gidon Kremer and international opera star Denyce Graves.

In addition, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, directed by Jeffrey Kahane, continues its Mozart Festival with four more concerto concerts.

All performances will be at Royce Hall on the UCLA campus. Single tickets as well as series and choose-your-own subscriptions are on sale now.
