Mid-State Bank opens local branch Mid-State Bank & Trust recently opened a new branch at 2663 Townsgate Road in Westlake Village. Mid-State has 41 branches including nine in Ventura County. Heading the staff of eight is vice president and financial services manager Augie Martinez. He is responsible for the bank's personal and business lending activities. A banker for 18 years, Martinez served as a banking services officer in Westlake Village for a community bank and as customer service manager for Bank of the West in Thousand Oaks. The Ventura native is a member of the Thousand OaksWestlake Village Regional Chamber of Commerce. Assistant vice president Norma Burckhard is the branch's customer service manager. A banker for 12 years, Burckhard has worked as an operations officer for several community banks in Thousand Oaks. Mid-State also announced recently that the bank has appointed Jeff Paul as community president for Ventura County. "As our territory grows, it is important to keep decision-mak ing at a local level," said James Lokey, the bank's chief executive officer. "With a community president in Ventura County, it will be easier to keep a thumb on the pulse of the communities we serve and tailor our service to meet their needs. It will also help us be more involved in community activities on an executive level." Jeff DeVine was appointed community president for Santa Barbara and the Santa Ynez Valley and Steven Harding was appointed community president for San Luis Obispo and northern Santa Barbara counties.
