Grants awarded to county healthcare agencies
Livingston Memorial Foundation has presented grants totaling $375,000 to 31 Ventura County nonprofit organizations for medical and health-related issues during its 2005-06 grant year ending April 30, 2006. A special grant of $110,000 was awarded to the Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association in support of the direct mission of providing subsidized care to Ventura County residents in need. Among the agencies awarded grants were the following.
ALS Association: $1,500, to be used to promote a greater knowledge of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis through education.
American Cancer Society: $5,000, to be used for cancer screenings.
Arc Ventura County, Inc.: $10,000, to be used for medically related services to developmentally disabled adults.
Braille Institute: $3,000, to be used to support the Mobile Solutions program in Ventura County.
Camarillo Hospice: $3,000, to be used to support ongoing programs of volunteer assistance to the terminally ill and bereavement support to those who have lost a loved one.
Coalition to End Family Violence: $5,000, to be used to help fund the medical needs of women and children who are victims of domestic violence.
Catholic Charities Oasis: $7,000, to be used to help sustain the current case management services in Ventura County.
Conejo Valley Senior Concerns: $1,000, to be used for assisting families with managing care and for and accessing the ongoing needs of their clients.
Hospice of the Conejo: $3,000, to be used to help support the ongoing operational cost for the outreach and bereavement programs.
Free Clinic of Simi Valley: $12,000, to be used for a dental clinic program.
Interface Children Family Services: $25,000, to be used to support the Children's Resource Program.
Lutheran Social Services: $5,000, to be used for direct client services.
Mary Health of the Sick Convalescent: $5,000, to be used to purchase medical equipment.
Planned Parenthood: $7,000, to be used to provide low-income individuals in Ventura County with subsidized medical visits. Santa Clara Valley Hospice:
$1,000, to be used to offer an alternative to hospitalization for people with life-threatening illnesses.
Southeast Ventura County YMCA: $10,000, to help support the costs for hydro-therapy pool exercises for the disabled in Ventura County.
St. John's Healthcare Foundation: $35,000, to be used to purchase a Transport Isolette.
