Prostitution arrests a shock for Conejo Valley

I am an Asian American businesswoman working in the accounting field and living in our beautiful community of Thousand Oaks. I would like to express shame on the greedy flesh pandering Asian massage parlor owners seeking profit in this oldest profession and the male patrons who use these Chinese women who possibly are forced to work as a prostitute to fulfill the owner's earnings and the patrons' wanton desires.

It is scandalous to hear that our prestigious boulevards have Oriental massage parlors of prostitution. Has it brought us back to the 1850s to the tales of twisted alleys of Chinatown? Back then often a girl with special beauty or charm can attract a wealthy client for his own exclusive use, but this was rare.

It seems history hasn't changed. Still, American men seem to become aroused over the lure of an Asian woman.

And who are the male clientele in our town using their services?

By performing crimes like this, they only set our people back about 200 years by keeping alive the stereotyping and ridicule of Asians as subservient laborers, sexual massage prostitutes and nave little maidens. Enough said.

Today, female Asians in the media are becoming recognized as role models such as Olympic skater Kristie Yamaguchi, Kimora Lee Simmons of Baby Phat Clothing, actresses Lucy Liu and Tia Carrere, to name a few.

I know that I and many of my successful and educated Asian peers want to thank the Thousand Oaks Police, Ventura County Sheriff's Department, U.S. Immigration and Customs for removing places like this from our prestigious city.

I do, however, hope these Chinese women who have to work for these criminals can find the courage and commitment to a social reform (now that they're) living in America. Nancy Trier Thousand Oaks
