Motorcyclists are disturbing the peace Those of us who live on or near Lynn Road, the stretch of road south from the 101 Freeway that eventually gets to the ocean via Potrero Road and a few turns, have noticed a marked increase of motorcycle traffic on the road, particularly on weekends. These motorcycles use Lynn Road to get to the Pacific Coast Highway and the ocean. The regular motorcycles themselves are not a problem, although they do speed like everyone else does on that stretch of road, which is dangerous. The issue is the noise that is generated by the souped-up motorcycles--the ones with extra muffler equipment. They exceed the state regulated noise level, which is 95 decibels. Yes, there are state regulations on noise levels, but just like immigration laws, these laws are not enforced. A typical motorcycle creates noise levels of 100 decibels. However the souped-up motorcycles vastly exceed those noise levels and they are the main problem. And there are more and more of them on this road every weekend. The city of Thousand Oaks has been told of this problem and their impact on the quality of life in Newbury Park. The city, however, seems more concerned with the stretch of Lynn Road north of the 101. Unless the city does something to curb theses motorcycles, by ticketing them for breaking the law as was done in Laguna Beach, there will only be increased usage of Lynn Road and things will get worse for us living here.
