Embattled trustee attacks the teachers union

We have a power struggle in Conejo Valley Unified School District between the Unified Association of Conejo Teachers (UACT) union bosses who control the district against the wishes of 85,000 parents and taxpayers who I give preference to. Since the bosses cannot buy me, they must destroy me.

I refer to the propaganda campaign by the UACT union bosses and their surrogates which is designed to defame my reputation and misinform the people regarding my performance as a trustee of Conejo Valley Unified School District.

Check forms 470, Schedule A, political contributions at the Ventura County Elections Division and you will find out how money is used to control the school district your taxes pay for.

Briefly stated: UACT controls the district by giving political contributions to the other four board members.

Here is UACT's agenda: +Oppose parent rights. +Raise taxes. +Promote homosexuality. (Abe Lincoln, a homosexual? See Sheila Kuehl's bill, SB-1437). +Suppress the public express

of religion. +Maintain total control of public education.

I am the only board member to vote "no" and have done so eight times in about two years. See www.mike4schoolboard.com.

Another example of many: Statement cards ran 6 to 1 against a health textbook now in use which redefines marriage as a union of partners or individuals. Three other textbooks with the traditional man/woman definition were rejected by the board in a 4 to 1 vote. The big unions testified in support of the redefinition of marriage. Union bosses demanded and won. Parents lost.

We have a good school district. But will it stay that way?

I spoke with two lawyers. Their summary: I did not violate the Brown Act. Do not sign UACT's agreement. Ignore the unnecessary request for reeducation. The reeducation source is bias and controlled by UACT's agenda.

PERB will probably not issue a complaint regarding my polling of teachers. The allegations by UACT are harassment, malicious, slander, a mute point and were an unknowing violation. The whole issue is now mute and the union's allegations are frivolous and a waste of union dues.

The statue of limitations has expired on both allegations with nothing done and no investigation.

More facts: The union bosses served the district with the labor allegations the day after I voted alone to submit the vacation schedule to mediation. It was punishment designed to intimidate and silence me. On May 19, my request for peace talks with the union bosses at my house was rejected.

I am a union member. My wife is a special education teacher. Our children attend Conejo schools.

Will the attacks against me make our world a better place? Will the attacks improve our schools?

Who is looking out for you? Mike Dunn, Trustee, CVUSD Newbury Park
