ArtWalk a success, thanks to those who helped

We thank all the people that came and braved the hot weather to make ArtWalk '06 another successful show. The attendance was lower than expected and sales were down from last year, but all in all it was a great show. Considering the hot weather, some artists did make big sales.

Thanks again to Donna Hall for coordinating ArtWalk with the help of the ArtWalk Committee and assistance of Steve Wiley, recreation service manager of the Conejo Recreation and Park District, and his crew. Thank you all for a great job.

The ArtWalk Committee and the Conejo Valley Art Museum Board of Trustees are very thankful to The Oaks shopping center for letting us have the east parking lot for this cultural event. We especially thank Nicole Schmidt, Tish Cabezas and John Corkey for seeing that the site was in good shape for the show.

The most important ingredient of ArtWalk which we are thankful for is the many volunteers that help rank ArtWalk with the best top shows in the nation. Some of the volunteers have been with us for many years.

The help of Boy Scout Troops No. 730 and 753 was very much appreciated by the committee and artists.

Thanks to Loraine Salvatore for scheduling the volunteers before the show and to Nan Young, owner of Art Trek, and her assistants who took care of the Kid Art Booth.

Early bird Kay Hayward greeted the artists at 6 a.m. and Marjorie McKay fitted in any volunteer spot that was vacant.

Janice McGinnis coordinated the food and arranged the beautiful floral arrangements for the museum and umbrella tables.

Rebecca Griffin again did a great job in coordinating the raffle and did a superb job on the decorating and signage of the kiosks.

The raffle was a great success, thanks to the donating artists Myra Burg, Jerry Sawitz, Robert Weil, Frank Lennartz and Karen McLean-McGaw. Albion Smith donated a beautiful ring. A great addition to the raffle was an academy easel donated by Graphaids Art Supply.

The framing of the raffle works was by Frames by You in Thousand Oaks and The Frame Gallery in Agoura Hills.

We are thankful for all the advertisers in the souvenir program, our members for their loyalty and the artists who participated.

Thanks to the Thousand Oaks Acorn for giving us coverage before and after the show.

We thank all those people that came to enjoy the art and those that came to purchase art. You made our day.

To all we say, thank you. Maria E. Dessornes President, Conejo Valley Art Museum Board of Trustees
