Jewish Federation of Greater L.A. supports immigration reform
The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles supports the historic American spirit of embracing immigrants. Each and every member of our community is a product, directly or indirectly, of the immigrant experience.
Illegal immigration is a crisis for immigrants, for their impact on public services, for the rule of law and for the maintenance and support of our generous legal immigration and refugee system. The Jewish Federation affirms its commitment to immigration reform that results in fair and thoughtful immigration policies that meaningfully address the crisis before us. The Jewish Federation believes that reform measures should be based on workable, effective and humane solutions to the current situation. Accordingly, we call on Congress to act quickly to adopt comprehensive immigration reform legislation that, among other considerations: +addresses our nation's legitimate security concerns +offers an economically sound, procedurally fair and morally just approach to the issues of earned legalization for people who are currently in the U.S. illegally and regulation of future immigration flow +provides more opportunities for the incorporation and acculturation of immigrants into American society
+provides for adequate federal funding for such policies to be successfully implemented.
The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles is L.A.'s largest Jewish nonprofit. It iden- tifies and funds social services, educational and humanitarian needs locally, in Israel and around the world.
