Anyone interested in running for Thousand City Council or in obtaining information on candidates must do a little research on the city website to find the information.

The website homepage carries city-related news of interest but no announcement or information about the candidate filing period which began on Mon., July 17. Nor did the website city calendar mention the filing period start date among its meeting and event listings.

The website was examined on Tuesday afternoon.

The seats of council members Dennis Gillette, Andy Fox and Claudia Bill-de la Pea are open. All three incumbents are running for reelection, along with four others so far.

Anyone else interested in joining the ballot has until Wed. Aug. 16 to complete the necessary paperwork.

To find the information on the site go to www.toaks.org. Click on "City Hall" on the upper left tool bar, then "Departments," then "City Clerk," then "Elections" on the left tool bar for general information. For information about each candidate and disclosures click on "Campaign Disclosures" then "Candidates."
