Principal at Maple Elementary was a a key to school's success As a former parent of a student at Maple Elementary School, it was of no surprise to me that Conejo Elementary won the Academic Achievement Award Title No. 1 school-a large part due to their new principal, Mr. Bob Iezza. Mr. Iezza is the epitome of what of what academic leadership should be. Mr. Iezza was an outstanding principal at Maple, but also a caring and supportive member of each and every student's education and welfare. Mr. Iezza made it his own personal mission to be able to address each student by their name, but also tried to get to know each student. Countless moments were spent during luncheons, taking his time to share a joke, talk with and care for as they played happily around him. I truly believe he loves his job and his students, each and everyone. The children respected Mr. Iezza as their principal, but liked him even more. A happy child is more eager to enjoy school, learn more and to continue with their higher education. Mr. Iezza saw to that. Mr. Iezza is also a star, now an untouchable one, to the parents of Maple. Every issue, from the smallest to the largest, Mr. Iezza would always give his undivided attention to listen to the concerns of the parent. A return phone call at 8 p.m. was common practice for Mr. Iezza. He listened to everyone, from the student to the parents and the teachers, all equally. He always gathered the facts and then he would base his decision on what was best for the student or the school on the facts, not based on pride, obligation or fear from a teacher or parent. Mr. Iezza is an exceptional role model for anyone in the academic field, as well as society. My hat is off to you, Mr. Iezza-you are deeply missed at Maple. Kimberley T. Nichols Newbury Park |
