Camarillo Community Theatre to host auditions

The Camarillo Community Theatre, director Juanita Seavey and producer Janis Johnson will host auditions for "Bell, Book and Candle" by John van Druten.

Auditions are at 7 p.m. Sun. and Mon., June 25 and 26 at the theatre, 330 Skyway Drive, Camarillo (inside the airport). Actors should bring a headshot, resume and be prepared for a cold reading from the script. For additional information call Johnson at (805) 4878812.

The characters are as follows. Gillian: a woman in her 30s with an air of mystery; issophisticated but has a volatile side as well as a vulnerable side.She's a witch, but keeps it secret. (The theater advises: "Must like cats.")

Shep: a man age 30 to 40. He is a confident, level-headed book publisher, practical and reasonable...until he meets Gillian.

Nickey (age 25 to 30) is Gillian's brother, a warlock, mischievous and spontaneous. For this role the actor must have a great sense of comedy timing and control, according to Johnson.

Aunt Queenie is a woman 50 or above. Gillian's aunt, she is an incurable romantic, a witch and loves it. Also mischievous, and this actress will requiregood comedy sense and timing.

Sidney Redlich (age 40 to 60) is an author, considers himself a man of the world and an expert on the subject of witchcraft.He drinks a bit too much.The actor for this role will need comedy timing as well as the ability to find the fine edge between "drunk" and "tipsy."
