Students honored by Rotary Club

Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks honored 25 Conejo Valley Unified School District students at the club's 20th annual Citizenship Program for the youngsters' scholarship, leadership, citizenship and contributions to the community.

Every elementary and middle school in the district was asked to nominate a student who met certain criteria.

On hand to present the awards were Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks, T.O. Mayor Dennis Gillette, CVUSD Deputy Superintendent Richard Simpson and Director of Elementary Education Linda Peralta.

The recipients were Tawni Gurney, Acacia Elementary; Andy Crown, Aspen Elementary; Jasmine Betka, Banyan Elementary; Alex Tiffin, Colina Middle School; Diego Rivera, Conejo Elementary; Daniel Lacey, Cypress Elementary.

Also Carolyn Roanhaus, Glenwood Elementary; Alexandra Joubran, Ladera Elementary; Kristen L'Heurex, Lang Ranch Elementary; Virgilio Garcia, Los Cerritos Middle School; Devin Walton, Madrona Elementary; Andrew Murillo, Manzanita Elementary.

And Sara Anderson, Maple Elementary; Daniel Ribbers, Meadows Elementary; Reilly Fenderson, Park Oaks Elementary; Courtney Adler, Redwood Middle School; Leticia Davila, Sequoia Middle School; Alexandra Kamins, Sycamore Canyon Elementary.

Plus Samantha Guhan, Sycamore Canyon Middle School; Casey Kornmaier, University Elementary; Bailey Van Ommeren, Walnut Elementary; Brett Hyatt, Weatherfield Elementary; twins Ethan and Jacob Walker, Westlake Elementary; Megan Cutaran, Westlake Hills Elementary; Clark Abourisk, Wildwood Elementary.
