'The Hare & The Tortoise' to be presented in neighborhood parks "The Hare & The Tortoise" races to a nearby park in June as the Gypsies in a Trunk continue the 12th season of free Fairytales in the Park. The hare is the fastest animal in the forest and the animal with the largest ego. A misunderstood remark from the tortoise propels them into the race of races. Wacky hosts Biff and Carl give a play-byplay as totally clueless animal handlers, as the racers make their way to a lesson on life and respect. Performances are: 11 a.m. Sat., June 3 at Foxfield Park, Westlake Village. 4 p.m. Sat., June 3 at the Rancho Simi Bicentennial Amphitheater in Rancho Simi Park at the corner of Erringer and Royal, Simi Valley. 11:30 a.m. Sat., June 10 behind the Community Recreation Center at 1605 E. Burnley St., Camarillo. William Wilson wrote the tale, and cast members include Chris Carnicelli, Susanna R. A. Miller, Reid Ripley, Julie Wagg and William Wilson. All performances are outdoors and ample seating is available on the ground. Guests bring blankets, lunch or snacks but no pets. Performances are free but donations will be accepted.
