Variety of creative courses offered
Roxanne Diesel, local drama instructor and owner of CATS (Creative Acting Theater School), offers a variety of summer camps in Ventura County.
All camps, for ages 7 to 13, are in partnership with local Ventura County recreation districts and range from half-day to full-day camps.
Camp Broadway Bound is a weeklong day camp during which students will perform "Peter Pan." The camp will be from June 19 through 23 at White Oak Elementary School in Westlake Village (cost $140) and from July 31 through Aug. 4 at Thousand Oaks Community Center (cost $145).
At the Harry Potter Wizardry and Literacy Camp, youths will
become Hogwarts students as they journey through reading, writing and acting based on the book "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban." The camp will be from Aug. 7 through 11 at the Cameron Center in Thousand Oaks and the cost is $150.
Comedy and Improvisation Bootcamp is a weeklong, half-day camp using a format similar to the TV show "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" Campers will create characters, dialogue and scenes without a script from July 5 through 7 at the Thousand Oaks Community Center. The cost is $60.
At the Commercial and Film Bootcamp, students will make films, master cold readings, act, sell a product on camera and au
dition from Aug. 14 through 18 at the Thousand Oaks Community Center. The cost is $75.
During Crime Scene Investigators Camp, students will investigate a mock crime scene and develop analytical and reasoning skills.
The camp is from Aug. 14 through 18 at the Thousand Oaks Community Center, with a $100 fee.
Diesel is an associate member of the American Camp Association and has been a camp director and instructor for more than 16 years.
