Gardens to host theater fundraiser

"A Toast to Mid Summer," an evening of wine tasting, revelry, music and merriment, will celebrate and support the 10-year anniversary of the Kingsmen Shakespeare Company.

The benefit is open to the public (ages 21 and above) from 5 to 8 p.m. Sat., April 29 at Gardens of the World, 2001 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks. Tickets are $75 advance purchase or $100 at the door. For more information, call (805) 493-3455.

Kingsmen Shakespeare Company performs every summer on an outdoor stage on the campus of California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks. During the winter they present performances for elementary, middle and high school students, bringing Shakespeare to the classroom via an interactive educational program.

The troupe also conducts Camp Shakespeare for aspiring young thespians and offers older students apprentice programs and internships.

Performances for this year's Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival will be on weekends from June 30 to mid-July ("A Midsummer Night's Dream") and from July 21 to Aug. 6 ("Othello").
