Workshop to teach leadership
"The 360 Measure of a Leader" conference is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fri., May 5 in the auditorium at Calvary Community Church, 5495 Via Rocas, Westlake Village. Registration is at 7:30 a.m.
Advance ticket purchase is recommended. The cost is $69 and includes lunch. To purchase, call (818) 706-6322 or visit www. principlebasedleadership.com.
Speakers include John Maxwell, Kathy Ireland, Peyton and Archie Manning, Patrick Lencioni, Sheriff Bob Brooks, Dr. Terry Schroeder and others.
Brooks will discuss what he has learned during his three terms as the chief law enforcement officer in Ventura County as a 30
year veteran and leader of 1,200 employees. Brooks' organization is responsible for protecting county citizens under a "lean" $145-million budget.
"He'll share some amazing stories from vital, real-life experiences that we can all apply in the workplace," said event organizer Sharon Hobba of Agoura Hills.
Schroeder, a Westlake Village resident, was recently selected to coach the 2008 Men's Olympic Water Polo team. He's a two-time silver medalist who led the Pepperdine Men's Water Polo team to a recent NCAA national championship. Schroeder will discuss his "key secrets" to gaining and keeping a competitive leadership edge in the marketplace.
Maxwell, a bestselling author who is considered "the globally recognized authority on leadership," according to Hobba, will also participate via satellite.
"The conference is designed to inspire and encourage leaders in every area of business and public service and to provide in-depth perspectives on how to unleash the influential leadership power within you," Hobba said. "Come and learn how you can help your co-workers, and the people you lead, reach beyond themselves. Great business networking sessions are planned as well."
All participants will earn a certificate for seven hours of leadership development.
