The Conejo Valley Youth Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Bill Benson and music therapist Tomiko Hamada Taylor, will present the fifth annual "First Classic Concert" for children and their parents at 2 p.m. Sun., April 30 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 32111 Watergate Road, Westlake Village.

Admission is free. For information, call Taylor at (805) 3760706 or the Conejo Valley Youth Orchestra at (805) 523-8045.

The 45-minute concert is designed for children of all ages and abilities. Concert organizers extend an invitation to special education students to attend.

One special feature of the program will be handbell ringer Delia Skeels demonstrating English handbells and performing with members of the audience.

Another presentation will be a musical adaptation of the children's story "In the Forest" by Marie Hall Ets. Children ages 6 to 14 have composed their own melodies and orchestration for each animal in the story, assisted by Conejo Youth Orchestra student composer-in-residence, Lennon Leppert. Each junior composer will talk about his piece.

The program will conclude with "Students in Recital" at 3 p.m. Students from the youth orchestra will perform in classical concert style.

According to Taylor, "This collaborative afternoon program is an opportunity for parents to introduce classical music to their

children and enjoy it with them, experiencing music with a live orchestra, singing with sign language, and seeing what fun it is for children of all abilities to create music."
