Garden Club names winners of flower show

The Conejo Valley Garden Club named the winners in the recent Placement Flower Show at Stagecoach Inn Museum in Newbury Park. In the show, artistic designers created displays suitable for specific pieces of furniture in the inn.

First-place winners for the artistic design category were: Nancy Gorman (tray), Joyce Reid (dining table entry), Earlyn Mosher (pedestal entry), Camille Van Ast (miniature under five inches) and Eunice Udelf (card table place setting).

Mosher's design also won the Designer's Choice Award.

The horticulture division presented the following prizes: Award of Merit to Pam Hamer and Van Ast, the Arboreal Award to Beverly Switzer (pink azalea spray) and Horticultural Award of Excellence to Ron Hedin (cactus).

Awards of Appreciation went to the three educational exhibitions: "Nat/State Garden Clubs Objectives" by Pat Carlson, "Botanicals at the Inn" by Gorman and "Kids Adventure Garden at the Botanical Garden" by Maryanne Lucas.

Junior gardener first place winners were Emmaline Trockey, Marirose Meyer, Katherine Trockey, Brenda Bass and Brianne Schwabauer.

Amelia Meyer (dish garden) and Kathleen Bass (artistic design) received Youth Achievement Awards.
