Road rage may have been factor in fatal vehicle wreck
By Sophia Fischer sfischer@theacorn.com
Investigators also want to talk to the driver of a bus that was in the area at the time and may have seen the crash. "We're still sorting out the details but it does appear that a road-rage incident did lead up to (the accident) but we don't know if that was the cause," said Sgt. Tom Bennett of the Thousand Oaks Police Department. Marolyne Morrison of Colorado was killed when a Ford Expedition driven by Felicia Floriano of Thousand Oaks crossed the opposing traffic lanes and hit the Ford Explorer that was being driven by Morrison. The impact caused Morrison's vehicle to collide with two other vehicles. One was an unoccupied Saturn parked along T.O. Boulevard. The other was a Honda Odyssey driven by Jeffery Skinner of Agoura Hills, who had his wife and child in the van. None were injured. Emergency personnel had to pry open Floriano's vehicle to rescue her. She was transported to Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center where she was treated for serious injuries. Morrison was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Morrison's passenger was her mother, Carmen Gomez, who was taken to Los Robles Hospital and treated for serious injuries. Police don't believe wet weather was a factor. "It was probably more of a speed issue," Bennett said. Anyone with information regarding the accident is urged to contact the Thousand Oaks Traffic Bureau at (805) 494-8271. |
