Students, teachers to display art The Arts Council of the Conejo Valley will present "Hang with the Best," the annual student/teacher art show. High School and middle school students in grades 6 to 12 as well as their instructors are invited to apply to have their artwork exhibited in the Arts Galleria at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, Thousand Oaks. An application is available in the March/April issue of Artscene Magazine, in local libraries, on www.HillcrestArts.com, or at the Hillcrest Center. Call (805) 3812747 for more information. All artwork exhibited in "Hang with the Best" will be judged and made available to be seen on the Arts Council of the Conejo Valley's website at www.conejoarts.org. Prizes will be awarded in nine categories: 3-D ceramics/sculpture, printmaking, painting in oil and acrylic, painting in watercolor, drawing, photography, mixed and miscellaneous media, best of show, and people's choice. The judges this year will be the mother-daughter team of Kristi and Dominique Collell. Kristi is the head of the art department at Newbury Park High School and Dominique Collell is locally noted for her "amazing" artistic work in the field of ice sculpture. "Hang with the Best" will be presented from April 10 through May 24 at the Arts Galleria in the Hillcrest Center. A reception is scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wed., April 12.
