Singers sought for opera

The Oaks Chamber Singers will perform a concert presentation of Gilbert and Sullivan's comic operetta "H.M.S. Pinafore" on Sun., May 21 in the Scherr Forum Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

They're encouraging local singers to join as chorus members for this production. Anyone interested is invited to attend the Oaks Chamber Singers' weekly rehearsals on Monday evenings at St. Julie Billiart Parish Hall, Newbury Park.

Featured as Ralph in the operetta will be tenor Craig Gilmore of Opera A La Carte, a professional touring company that specializes in Gilbert and Sullivan's works. All the other members of the cast will be soloists from the ensemble. As most of the leads in this production are male, the Oaks Chamber Singers are seeking tenor/basses in particular for the chorus.
