Defends Gallegly

I am writing to strongly support Congressman Elton Gallegly's actions over the past few weeks, and his decision to seek reelection and to serve another term in Congress.

As a police official in Ventura County and later as his friend, I have known the congressman for more than 25 years. I know that he has agonized over the issue of the decision not to seek reelection for health reasons and the reversal of that decision when the reaction poured in.

It seems to me that his actions have reflected the high calling of the office he holds.

I have not agreed with every position he has taken, but I have never questioned Gallegly's integrity and desire to do what is best for his country and his constituents. In this case, I know that he has placed duty over self and it is my hope that residents of the 24th Congressional district will recognize that.

It was indeed quite literally the call of his constituents that led him to reverse his decision not to seek reelection.

It is my hope that we will be privileged to have Congressman Gallegly continue to serve us for at least one more term. Robert Klamser Ventura
