Jewish film festival opens

2006-03-30 / Faith

The Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival (LAJFF), to be presented at various venues from Sat., April 1 through Thurs., April 6, will celebrate the diversity of the Jewish experience through film.

With its focus on Jewish identity, LAJFF "will inform and inspire its audience," according to festival organizers.

The festival will feature films that deal with Jewish culture, history, traditions, challenges and characters, and also "will deepen Jewish values, promote ideas of tolerance, and encourage a new dialogue within the greater Los Angeles Community."

LAJFF will introduce an international line-up of new films, including features, documentaries, shorts and animated films. The festival will also screen rereleased prints of classics.

The event will include panel discussions with celebrities, directors, producers, writers and actors.

LAJFF will also host special screenings for school groups, and workshops in filmmaking and animation taught by professors and alumni from renowned film schools.

The festival is sponsored by the New JCC at Milken in West Hills, with assistance from the Jewish Federation and other supporters.

For a schedule of screenings, locations and more information, please call the JCC at (818) 4643300 or visit www.lajfilmfest.org.
