CLU honors T.O. couple
Michael and Vicki Arndt Michael and Vicki Arndt of Thousand Oaks were selected to receive the William E. Hamm Outstanding Service Award by the California Lutheran University Community Leaders Association.
The award, which is given to members who have shown exemplary service, was presented to the Arndts on March 12 during the Community Leaders Associa
ion's annual membership brunch.
Michael, a Theatre Arts professor at CLU, has served as a board member for the Community Leaders Association as well as emcee for the association's annual auction for more than 10 years.
An active member of the Thousand Oaks community, Michael founded CLU's Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival and worked to help establish the theaters for the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. He also served as a founding board member of the Alliance for the Arts in Thousand Oaks.
Vicki has been an active member of the Community Leaders Association as a member of the board, president and auction chair. She continues to hold a position on the auction committee and serves as co-auctioneer. She and Michael have volunteered for many CLU events including the coin toss booth at Thousand Oaks' annual Conejo Valley Days.
The William E. Hamm Award is named in honor of a former CLU vice president who contributed to the development of the university and to the betterment of the Conejo Valley community.
Founded in 1963, the CLU Community Leaders Association was developed to stimulate the interest of the community in CLU's athletic and cultural programs. Members are involved in a variety of activities, including social and academic programs and fundraising efforts.
Since its founding, the organization has provided more than $1.5 million to enhance academic programs and facilities at the university.
Among the programs sponsored by the CLU Community Leaders Association are an annual live and silent auction, an annual campus brunch, Mathews Leadership Forum, a golf tournament, and an evening at the Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival.
