Shooting incident looks to be road rage over honked horn A road rage shooting incident took place in Thousand Oaks on March 4 and resulted in two arrests. According to a police report, a Thousand Oaks man, age 40, and his 7-year-old daughter were driving in the vicinity of Olsen Road and Sunset Hills Boulevard. The man honked at a vehicle driven by Moorpark resident Kristin Alcorn, 23, after she threw a cigarette butt out the window around 7 p.m. Sat., March 4. The report states that a "road rage incident ensued," with Alcorn's passenger, Micheil Silk, 24, of El Monte firing numerous shots toward the car with the father and daughter. There were no injuries, but the father's vehicle was damaged by the bullets. The victim recorded the license plate number of the other vehicle, allowing police to investigate the whereabouts of the two suspects. Both were arrested in the El Monte area and remain in the Ventura County Jail. The district attorney has filed charges against Silk, who's in custody on $250,000 bail. He's been arraigned on felony charges and has an April 6 court date. The D.A. has not determined whether to file charges against Alcorn. "There was probable cause to arrest her. She was involved," said Detective Jeff Miller of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department. "We are questioning her knowledge of what was going to take place." The victim didn't give his name or that of his daughter, preferring to remain anonymous, citing fear of retaliation. There's no confirmation that Silk may be part of a gang, according to Miller. "We don't have many shootings in Thousand Oaks, so we go to great lengths to solve them to keep residents safe," Miller said. |
