Chabad of the Conejo to pay tribute to Jewish wome

In an ever increasing effort to strengthen women with a positive Jewish message, Chabad of the Conejo and Chabad of the Valley, in conjunction with The Jewish Federation-Valley Alliance, will present "Expressions De La Femme" at 7 p.m. Sun., March 19 at the Bernard Milken Jewish Community Campus, 22622 Vanowen St., West Hills.

The event will feature a unique fashion show-style presentation in costume and song telling the story of heroic, but not always known, Jewish women, including heroines of Biblical and historic times. As these characters come to life, the audience will come to know women "who have striven at every turn to preserve the Jewish people," according to Chabad.

Also, Judy Winegard, who has performed in musicals onand off-Broadway, will present a concert. Following "a life-altering reaction" to the 1994 earthquake, she embraced her Jewish heritage and now uses "her unique talents and electrifying voice to inspire Jewish women" through music, song and drama.

Women of all ages from the entire Jewish community are invited to attend. The goal of the program is to unite Jewish women from all backgrounds, affiliations and levels of observance, and "impress upon them the uniqueness of the vital role they play in keeping Judaism alive and growing."

Specialty boutiques and a "Viennese Sweet Sensation" table will be available during the evening. Admission is $18 per person. Reservations are required and may be made by calling (818) 991-0991 or by visiting www.jewishacademy.com.
