Garden Club busier than usual this spring Conejo Valley Garden Club is having a busy spring. At the next meeting, 9:30 a.m. Wed., March 22 at United Methodist Church, 1000 E. Janss Road in Thousand Oaks, the club will hear from Susan McRae, also known as "The Lavender Lady." McRae will discuss the different kinds and uses of lavender. Following McRae's presentation, Camille Van Ast will conduct a floral design tutorial that includes a question-and-answer session. The event will also include a short business meeting and refreshments. For details, call Brenda Souza at (805) 497-2949. From 1 to 4 p.m. Sat. and Sun., March 25 and 26, at the Stagecoach Inn Museum, 51 S. Ventu Road, Newbury Park, the club will present a flower show themed "Springtime at the Inn." Twentyfour creative designs will be exhibited throughout the historic inn's first-floor rooms. Horticulture specimens will also be on display in Anderson Hall on the grounds. The club's junior gardeners will exhibit their designs and horticulture in the Timber School House on the grounds. Club members will supply many varieties of cuttings for sale outside the inn. Admission is $4 for adults, and $3 for children and seniors. The club will also be offering plant cuttings on Sat., April 22 during the city of Thousand Oaks' Arbor/Earth Day celebration at Conejo Creek Park behind the Thousand Oaks Library, 1401 E. Janss Road. |
